Module Update Sunday #03: ZORK

Don't feel so good today, my back hurts and I've receivced a good portion av the flue (again). So I'll be lazy and repost parts of the weekly update here.

If you want to read the complete update #3 you can find it here: LINK

I've managed to make some Zork-ish paintings
"One of the things I have problems with is to decorate my indoor areas. An abandoned underground empire has not lots of NPC’s and critters running around to make the area look alive. It’s only rubble, decaying books and furniture, broken stuff and so on. So I’ve searched (very, very orderly (is the word I think)) all over the Internet and found images that I can use as paintings. They will make the areas feel a lot more Zork:ian. I think I’m up to 48 different. The most of them have a description of what they present. Like: “This is an unknown artist’s view of a Discipline Crab. Discipline crabs are small, moral crustaceans found in cellars, fallout shelters and other subterranean lairs…” It was fun to do them and I could lay in bed with my laptop most of the time."

Inspecting one of the new paintings in the unfinished gallery.

I've also worked a bit on the Maze Area:
"Every underground complex must have a maze! But remembering playing ZORK I on my C64 and as an old friend reminded me of playing the predecessor Dungeon on a terminal at his aunt’s work. I think it was a PDP-11 ( I’d completely forgotten about it. He was 11 and I was about 9, then). Keep focus here! I remembered how boring the Zork Maze was. Every room was alike and it felt like it was 100 rooms and you always came back to the same spot. I want this maze to be a bit more fun so I’ve made it complex but with some variation. The hard thing is to make every room unique, but so unique that you can use is a landmark when navigating through the maze. A maze has to be difficult, but not impossible."

Beating up one of the inhabitants of the Maze

See you soon!

I have to say, you're doing some amazing work on this. I wish you all the best.

Not to be "that way", but I should point out that there are several misspelled words in that description. Haha.

Thanks!
It okay to be "that way", english is not my first language, not my second either. On top of that I'm slightly dyslectic even when writing in my own own language. I just write and hope a little something of what I wanted to tell can be interpretable by the reader :)

That's cool. If you'd like someone to proofread the mod text when it's finished, I'm available. Helps add that extra polish. I only speak one language, but I speak it very well :p

I happened to mention Zork to my wife last night. She said I was making it up and there really isn't anything called Zork. I need to send her a wikipedia link and perhaps a link to your blog.

:D
Sometimes I don't believe it either. Like today when my custom music stopped to work. Maybe the module itself has some doubts about it too...
