Tiny update

As I've told you earlier. Area lighting is one of my weaknesses when it comes to the toolset. Today I've finished the play testing for this time and started to calibrate the area lighting. I found that I've been working with a pretty high setting of the in-game gamma. The result is very dark areas. Yes, I know that pitch black is very dark but I've learned that there are different levels of pitch black when building areas. So with a little help from the friendly NWN2 forum guys I've come up to a decent background lighting that is the base level of black and now my light sources look more natural. I had also time to write a script that replaces the area properties music handler. Now I can adjust the delay before the music starts in every area which was a small thing that have irritated me for some time.

And here are the screenies!

lighting looks amazing - and the detail you have in the screenshots and placeables is brilliant - really brings the text to life (as i'm guessing thats the kitchen and attic!)

Loads of details on your interiors. I'm going to have to go back to mine and do another pass I think!

Very nice!

Though I hope the artist wasn't the one who decorated his room, as I'd have to say he that's the worst case of colour coordination I've ever encountered.

This is not meant as an insult against you, of course. But seriously: Heliotrope walls, teal ceiling, and is that curtain the colour of synthesised ultramarine pigment? Combined with the brownish shades of the carpet, the sheer number of conflicting colours simply knocks me out.

Everything else looks great. I particularly like the kitchen!

Who said that art (or an artists studio for that matter) has to be tasteful? ;) I suppose that's the effect of sniffing turpentine and drinking to much Absinth...
But fair enough, I might or not take another look at the Studio. I'm sooo insulted now :D

Thanks Wyrin and Merecraft.
Yes it's the the kitchenthe attic and the living room of the house on the hill. I have to be quite finicky about the details because there's so few monsters, NPCs and deep plots that distracts the player from looking hard at the areas. The limited amount of common daily life placeables makes it difficult to give the areas that detailed look the BG/IWD/PT had.

I think that "Looking for the Grue" shot tops the bunch (IMO) - The way the lighting hits that dirty, old chest...awesomeness!

Those screenshots were just astounding! Both lighting and placeables were in true harmony. And while all colour combos weren't, don't you worry Amraphael, there are few interior design critics who will run through your module, I reckon. And those who do will have their jaws dropped anyhow from the sheer beauty of it all! :)

@Amraphael: Well, a dash of turpentine fume has never hurt anyone. Don't mind me, I am being facetious.

Considering that drinking Absinthe can very well end up with the drinker being blind, that of course explains the problem with coordinating colours...still, I'm surprised his paintings still looks so good ;) .

Thank you Indira for your kind words. No doubt will some critical players poke throw this mod with their unmerciful knifes sharp as never before. But that's okay, I often look in the corners of a mod to see if the builder has done a good job. So I have to live up at least to my own standards. The most important for the moment is to remove the bugs that may screw up the game play. I've said it before, but bugs in a puzzle game can totaly destroy the experience.

Nah, you don't get blind by drinking Absinth. I've tried it and my color matching eye is still perfect :) :)

BTW the Studio is now in different shades of red. I turned down the insane level to 40%.
